So far I've mostly used the tone exercises, and I can hear a difference after only a couple of weeks! It's easy to understand and the exercises seem very well designed. I use it every time I practice and will continue.

Comprehensive book that will be useful all through your fluting career.
A book referred to when using his practice book for piccolo
Covers all aspects of flute playing and is easy to focus on a particular issue you are having
Like the piccolo practice book referring back to this book Trevor refers to another of his books. This time in order to understand the colour analogies you need to refer to 'proper flute playing'. Sensible authoring but frustrating if you don't own the book or know someone who can explain the concept to you.

This omnibus edition contains exercises that are nothing if not comprehensive. My only criticism is that the title does not indicate that it's not really a book for beginners (such as me). Even for more capable students, I would have thought it advisable to work through them with a teacher. No doubt if you conscientiously work through every book you could find yourself playing like James Galway!

it is an awesome book and it is really useful for flute players to get the technique that goes with being a really good flute player! i must admit after just beginning using the exercises it seems a bit painful practising such simple melodies and tunes however I am confident that it will make me be a better flute player and I am already beginning to see some improvement on such things as vibrato and finger work.

Excellent book with lots of info to help your technique and improve tone. Loads of fun scales and exercises ....wish this was one of the first books that I'd bought. Includes some short sections of some well known pieces too to keep it interesting

This is a fantastic collection of all the exercises (and more) that I would like to use with my students. Usually I have written out in their lesson books what I want them to do - this gives the exercise along with all the whys and wherefores that make teaching so much easier. Wish I had found it earlier!
