A swinging pop cantata for narrator, unison voices with optional divisions, piano and guitar chord symbols. When performed as a cantata the chorus can sing throughout, with or without division into solo, main chorus and semi-chorus effects. As a stage work, the chorus can be placed at the sides, whilst centre stage are the chorus of six hens, the main characters with solos (Chanticleer, Pertelote, and Mr Fox), plus the Narrator. Entrances, exits and all the basic action are implicit in the lyrics and narration.
I love Rooster rag. I sang the part of Chanticleer and loved it! The music is amazing and the lyrics blend with it really well. The rhythms make it really toe-tapping and so movement can be incorporated too. Anonymous
Very pleased with my purchase - we used to sing songs from Rooster Rag at school, so I was delighted to be able to purchase a book of the words and music - brought back so many memories! Anonymous

I am in year 7 and we have been singing 'Rooster Rag' at school. It has been REALLY fun as the songs have good rhythm and are fun to sing! Michael Hurd is great at writing songs! I recommend this book for ages 7-14! It's really lively and has a good storyline.
