        Musicroom Reviews

This is a paperback for SATB choirs and Piano of Hiawatha's wedding feast. Our (ESCS) choir are singing it for summer 2010 and I can see why at the turn of the last century it was such a popular piece. Some of it at the start at least is easy and it does not go too high for the sops. There are some lovely Indian rhythms repeated in different ways making me want to dress up with an Indian headdress for choir practice! The poem is set out at the front of the book and the Indian nouns and their meanings - but what is a wampum? The paper on which the paperback is clearly printed is reasonable quality. I would have liked a bit about the story of Coleridge and Hiawatha but I can always read that on line. Thank you for your prompt delivery, I shall certainly use music room again.
