These Dances from Alexander Borodin's 'Prince Igor' are overwhelmingly brilliant and irresistibly barbaric in the best Romantic crowd-pleasing manner, particularly when performed with the original choral parts -SATB with Baritone solo and piano accompaniment. The Dances gained an unexpected popular currency when one of the more memorable tunes was transformed into the song 'Stranger in Paradise' as part of the Broadway musical Kismet. English version by Henry G. Chapman.
This is a wonderful piece from an equally wonderful composer. Our choir sang it with the New West Symphony, and it was a monumental hit. I truly recommend it to willing and energetic choirs.
