Handy size, clear and easy-to-read layout. Makes it convenient for use in an concert-situation. The editorial piano-score makes the process of study easier for many conductors. Recommendable - with this edition one of the true masterpieces of renaissance music becomes accessible for all capable choirs.
The layout may seem a bit out-dated here and there. But it is a minor point!

This is the definitive version (The Chester Music Edition) of Byrd's Four Part Mass, as edited by Henry Washington. It is widely regarded as the most accurate restructuring for modern use by many musicologists world-wide. It meets the practical demands of the modern day choir, and meets the previously questioned textual problems of earlier editions by referring to the original part books in the British Museum. This has left the user with a clear difference between editorial suggestions and the original text. It is a must-have edition of a prominent piece of late renaissance polyphony and I cannot recommend it too highly!
