        Chapters are divided well

        Small in size
Could be worded in a much more easy to interpret way. Often gets tiresome and strenuous to read because of this.

A lot of the examples used with written pieces of music do not have a stave (I presume this was to save costs on printing)

Well organised text book for Associated Board theory grades. I like the way it is written one grade at a time. Pupils feel that they are progressing once they have completed studying their grade.

Fantastic book, aids AS/A2 Exams very well. I recommend it to anyone teaching themselves or student in preparation for examinations. Pocket-size, very convenient, simple language and diagrams make it very easy to follow. Its a very good resource to refer to for theory and practical performance. Best theory book that I have bought so far.

Exactly what I was looking for as a beginner - a compact and straightforward summary of essential music theory collected together within each exam grade boundary.

I would recommend this book to anyone doing the ABRSM Grades 1 - 5 Theory exams. This book should be your bible when studying for the exams. I've just done my Grade 4, and the only material I used was this. I have never felt more confident about a theory exam. Excellent book!

A fantastic revision book to accompany your usual 'AB Guide to Music Theory'. Sometimes I find the AB Guide is too complicated and this little book explains theory in summary form. The book is presented grade by grade so it is very easy to follow.

This is a fab little book and a perfect guide to the ABRSM graded theory books. I am a peripatetic teacher and all of my students have one to guide them through the theory in practice series. Most of them are able to do so independently, and we spend a couple of minutes at the beginning of the lesson going through what they have done, and clearing up any aspects that baffle them. It's obviously not as good a scenario as them having one-to-one theory tuition, but definitely not a bad second best!

As an adult studying music for the first time, I found this book absolutely fantastic. This book is easy to understand: each grade has a separate chapter, and under each heading there is a detailed explanation. I am now studying for my Grade 3 Theory exam in November and I would highly recommend this book for anyone.

I wish I had known about this book when my daughter started on Grade One theory. Very clear and succinct unlike some of the other ABRSM theory books. Definitely a good buy!
