How To Blitz! ABRSM Theory Grade 1 includes everything you'll need to blitz your Grade 1 ABRSM Theory exam. With full guidance to the entire syllabus, more information, revision exercises and worksheets than any other theory textbook and possibly the clearest and easiest section on music notation we've ever seen, the book makes working towards the ABRSM Theory accessible and enjoyable for students.

Featuring quizzes, games, multiple choice, word searches and more, the book manages to make what is usually a dreaded topic into something fun. Although music theory applies to all instruments, the Piano keyboard makes visualisation easier, so lots of these diagrams are included to help students understand concepts more easily.

From rhythms and time signatures all the way to intervals and triads with everything in between, Blitz! ABRSM Theory Grade 1 also includes tests, frequent exercises and a handy manuscript section to reinforce and aid learning.

Written by renowned educator and author Samantha Coates, the BlitzBooks series has brought fun and laughter to the areas of music theory, instrumental technique and sight reading. Her engaging approach to theory and sight reading has made BlitzBooks already the most popular range of theory and sight reading books in Australia, now finally available in the UK.

I have been teaching/helping an adult in France to learn to play the piano ,whilst I was there in the summer. She knew nothing.I bought her 'It's never too late TO PLAY THE PIANO', I did a lot of writing facts and explanations down. and we keep in touch on Skype.I was idling my way through Music room when I spotted Blitz 1, ordered it and hey presto it does all the things I need it to do for her. Underlining all we have covered so far and then moving seamlessly on. Exactly what we needed. She is now ordering her copy.

Very clear lay-out & explanations . English rhythm terms (semibreve, quaver, etc) not American (whole note, eighth note, etc) .

Fun cartoons. Plenty of exercises to work without feeling overburdened. Four pages of blank m/s staves at the back for extra working.
Page 7 : wrong history (unless it's supposed to be a joke ?)

Page 44 : nitpicking, but a Unison is not an "Interval".

A bit pricey for Grade 1 , compared with, for example, Josephine KOH .
