Written by leading piano educator Samantha Coates and the director of Australian Music Schools Michelle Madder, How To Blitz! Sight Reading features ten levels with tests, brilliant exam hints, as well as key stickers and self rating systems - never before has there been such a fun sight reading book that actually makes students want to sight read.

The BlitzBooks series has inspired thousands of young musicians to master music theory and sight reading. Samantha Coates created BlitzBooks to be easy to teach, and engaging for students. First published in November 2000, it has become the bestselling music textbook series in Australia, and is now available in specially designed versions for the main UK exam boards.

I love the structure of the book. the breakdown into simple units that can be focussed on individually to build confidence in the weaker areas. Also the keys awarded at the end of each level appeal to the competitive students.
More expensive than the average sightreading book.

I am using this for a very reluctant young lad who finds sight reading more than a little difficult. The simple structure - AND the key sticker rewards are helping this nine year old who is working towards Grade 2 piano and Grade 4 trumpet.
The initial cost is quite a lot to ask parents to pay on top of everything else. Luckily this family is not short of cash!
