The first section was originally written in 1974 as a kind of subdued fanfare composed to accompany the bride's entrance at my good friend Tom's wedding. Alas, I was late. Over many years, this work for Brass Quintet grew out of the original two minutes. In it I utilize older musical considerations along side of more contemporary ideas.
This Brass Quintet features a mix of modern musical ideas and more standard forms and harmonies, all mixed through each movement. The ever-changing time signatures, particularly in the finale, make this a piece for the more advanced quintet looking to work on some new repertoire.
