Piano Playbook: Cocktail Piano

Books | Piano

Publisher: Wise Publications
Series: Piano Playbook
Format: Sheet Music | Instrumental Album
The Piano Playbook: Cocktail Piano is a collection of brilliant arrangements of jazz, pop and even classical standards that are simply too good to be kept in the background. Compiled to suit everyone's tastes, these tunes are collated in a handy, spiral-bound book making each song a pleasure to play.

Featuring a total of 45 smooth solo Piano arrangements of some seriously wonderful compositions, Cocktail Piano is a Piano Playbook that is essential playing for any pianist. With songs that simply scream Piano bar, like Hoagy Carmichael's Lazy River and George Gershwin's Rhapsody In Blue, as well as some arrangements of tunes that don't typically remind one of a relaxed evening in a cocktail bar, such as London Calling by The Clash and Pinball Wizard by The Who.

Every single one of these songs was written by a master of composition, whether it's The Beatles, represented here by five songs (With A Little Help From My Friends, Nowhere Man and more), Duke Ellington, Rachmaninoff, Bill Evans, or Chick Corea, whose divine Now He Sings, Now He Sobs should be required playing for any pianist. All of the songs in this book of Cocktail Piano sheet music would sound fantastic as the soundtrack for a night of mirth and merry, but they are also so good that they'd be universally loved if they were the centre of a performance.

This songbook, as with all the Piano Playbooks, comes spiral-bound, ensuring that it lays flat on a Piano or music stand, while the handy format means that durability is combined with convenience, so you can always carry Cocktail Piano around with you and bring the house down whenever a set of ivories is in front of you. With such a diverse selection from a range of genres, like light classical, lounge arrangements of pop songs and some essential solo jazz Piano, this Playbook has something that everyone will enjoy, taking some beautifully written tunes and making them sound just great on a Piano, accompanied by some sumptuous cocktails.

So if you want to practise privately in the background or perform in the limelight, the Piano Playbook: Cocktail Piano, with its bright, smooth and seriously great arrangements of 45 classic tunes, is the book that's missing from your music stand. Pick it up today and imagine sipping a Martini in a dimly lit lounge with a bit of Gershwin, Sinatra or Ellington emanating from the keys.

Plenty of style with these pieces.

I need to familiarise myself with jazz idioms, and this book is doing the trick.
Perhaps a few more earlier tunes from the sixties and seventies, but this isn't a bad point.

The book is too small,it is not A4 as you might expect. Its A5 I think. It is therefore difficult to read the musical score as the type is much smaller than normal type. I sent it back and got a refund.
