Anne Marsden Thomas: Pedalling For Organists

Books | Organ

Publisher: Cramer Music
Format: Books | Instrumental Tutor

This complete book on Organ pedalling by Anne Marsden Thomas supports organists from their first encounter with the pedalboard through to the achievement ofvirtuosity.

In this comprehensive guide, the technique of Organ pedalling is broken down into thirty seven chapters, each of which introduces a different aspect of pedalling technique with clear explanations and colour photographs.

There are hundreds of exercises, mostly drawn from three centuries of organ repertoire many of which not only demonstrate the techniques but are also rewarding to play intheir own right. Pedalling for Organists aims to be comprehensive, covering absolutely every pedalling technique.

The profusion of exercises is intended to giveorganists of every standard – beginner, intermediate and advanced - plenty of material for study and sight-reading. Each technique is described and followed by exercise material, and where required this exercise material isfinely graded.

This is the latest book from one of the church organists’ leading educationalists. Anne Marsden Thomas is well-respected for her teaching skills and dedication in helping the student organist. She has many books published with several set on Organ exam syllabuses.

Just starting to work my way through. Lots of exercises practising each of the techniques - mostly based on existing repertoire (rather than newly written) - meaning you recognise quite a lot of the pieces as you start playing.
