The Trinity board offers a variety of achievements within its format. The student must pick one piece from A and B, then for third piece, from either A or B. There are exercises at the back which are well thought out and are designed to complement the pieces. There aren't too many scales to learn, and appear different from the pnes in the set pieces, so there is overall coverage. There is sightreading and a choice of exam tasks i.e. aural or ... whereas ABRSM is all
Quite expensive if you include the CD. Lots of ABRSM performances for all grades on youtube so you don't necessarily need to buy that board's CD. I was struggling with grade 4 ABRSM piano, and Trinity was recommended to me. I tackled the first few bars of my set pieces much quicker than had they been ABRSM, so the standard of pieces are much easier. Possible grade 3-4 of ABRSM. Bear this in mind when reaching Grade 8 because it might be worthwhile looking at Grades 7and8 ABRSM, as this is the music board which is currently considered superior.
