          A fantastic introduction.
Clear and large print easy for children to follow.
          CD included.
Plenty of open string pieces to build confidence.
The CD doesn't let the player know when to start so it's very difficult to play with and on time.
The CD is only an piano accompaniment so there is no Double Bass to play along with.

Good quality pieces, good quality backing tracks.
Doesn't try to be the teacher by containing pages and pages of text, just a collection of progressive pieces.
          Won't break the bank
Fully compatible with the violin, viola and cello versions - have used it for whole class strings as well as individual lessons
First couple of pieces do not use musical notation - would like to see notation used from the start, but that's just an opinion and a very minor gripe
For some strange reason, it jumps straight from open strings to 4th finger (nothing with just open and 1st finger). This is a fairly major omission (hence the 8/10 rating for content), but the book is so useful in every other way I can work round it.

Good book for beginners. Not too expensive. Starts off with some fun tunes with open strings with backing tracks.
Sometimes it's not clear that there is an intro to count before starting to play.
