St Marys Choir, Bampton
- Starts easily and gets a little harder technically as the work progresses. We sang it with a small choir of 4 children, 3 Sopranos, 6 Altos, 3 Tenors and 2 Basses. The music is easy to learn and the words tell the story of the Passion well. The Narrated parts give the opportunity to choir members who might not normally have a solo, to activley partake above their usual role. The skill in the production of this piece lies in the unison singing (and all other parts) being together, along with the ability of the choir, to 'tell the story' as they sing. Comments from the congregation/audience suggested that they found it very moving and brought a new meaning to the Easter story.
- Several choir members suggested that it wasn't quite their 'thing', but overall the music and format grew on everybody. The suggestion of a drum in the last movement was not followed up.
