This exam process mixed with beginners tutorial is perfect for the young musician. The suggestions of how to use the keyboard functions at the same time as playing (with both hands together) is extremely rewarding and fun for young students :)

I'm not sure who this book is aimed at. The pieces don't look very inspiring, and they are way harder than last year's step 1 and 2 exam pieces. Primary children will struggle, and secondary children will find the titles babyish. The layout looks good though, and selective elements may be useful.

Used this book extensively now for a few months and I am getting used to it. I use the old book as a starter as this is much better for learning the notation. i dont even teach any age group single fingered as there is no point and confuses them as a few pages later it deals with the fingered chords. I especially like the way it teaches bass clef and pieces to go with this - and again you don't have to do this as there is always options in the exam. It's growing on me as a tutor book but this will take much longer to get through the first two steps than the previous book
