        Musicroom Reviews

This book is an excellent resource for piano teachers and higher grade pupils (sight reading). Graded from elementary through to grade 6, it covers many technical areas. It is also a useful alternative to use for sight reading for the higher grade pupils.

How could I not have discovered this series earlier? It seems to me the answer to any teacher’s dreams. There are four progressive volumes as well a complete book containing all four. The selection of repertoire is wonderful and varied, and includes so many of my favourite teaching pieces for beginners through to grade 4-5. The print is large and clear and the paper is a gentle cream, which is so pleasant for reading. The books are straight repertoire, with no side bars or pictures, so the player’s focus is entirely on the music. There’s something timeless about these lovely volumes, and it makes me want to clear out all those old books I’ve picked up here and there and start afresh! The cover is beautiful too, which is such a bonus. A big thank you Jennifer Linn, who compiled the books!
