The Legendary Series: Clarinet

Books | Clarinet

Publisher: Wise Publications
Format: Sheet Music | Instrumental Album

The Legendary Series: Clarinet is a beautifully presented, limited edition book containing 100 great pieces, specially arranged for Clarinet.

Expertly bringing together Clarinet music ranging from Mozart and Berlioz through the 1940s big bands to Klezmer, traditional jazz and popular music, The Legendary Series: Clarinet is a lavish and permanent addition to the bookshelf of any clarinet lover.

Alongside the luxuriously presented repertoire is a selection of illustrations and commentaries on the lives of many celebrated clarinettists and composers.

It should be noted that the chord symbols above the stave are written for an accompanying concert pitch instrument, i.e. Piano or Guitar. This is to allow the accompanist to read from the same score as the soloist.

        Musicroom Reviews

Although I am a relative late comer to the clarinet, as I've only been playing for 2 years as a hobby, I found this book to contain a wide variety of tunes at various difficulty levels that all seemed achievable, if not now then I could still see myself playing them in the future. It is a lovely book, very nicely produced which also contains some interesting short biographies of some well known players. If you are around the intermediate level I think you would get a lot from this book and at the price it really is hard to fault. The only thing to be aware of is the weight as it collapsed my music stand the first time I tried to put the book on it!

Lovely book, with lots of info on famous clarinet players and composers. Although it says that you can use chords given to have some accompaniment, it would have been nice to have an accompanying backing track CD for those of us not fortunate enough to have people to accompany us, as there are pieces that have a quite a few bars rest, and even to miss these out to make a solo piece doesn't quite work for some of the tunes.

My son asked for a book of varied pieces for teaching purposes. It seems it fit the bill because he was very pleased with it. I ordered it very near Christmas and it arrived super quickly.
