This book provided everything that was needed to be known by a child preparing to take grade 3 theory and the exercises make the book more fun and easy to complete.

The perfect preparation for ABRSM Grade 1 Music Theory.

Nothing much to say other than bought for an exam!

All the Music Theory in Practice graded books are excellent value and serve as a good resource for students taking their exams. They have stood the test of time but you do need to supplement your teaching with the ABRSM guides to ensure that you know what is expected. For younger children the exercises may seem a little tedious and lacking in "fun" activity.

Lots of exercises and information although difficult to work through on your own without either a teacher or an accompanying book with more information - the pink book that is mentioned throughout.

        Brilliant for learning required syllabus.

An excellent theory book. Gives you plenty of practice for examinations.

An excellent book, well constructed and presented. It is formal in layout, by which I mean it is not aimed at child users, although there is no reason at all why a child should not use the book. There is no instructional content, however if this is required the Associated Board Guide to Music Theory should fit the bill perfectly as an excellent accompanying reference text.

Theory presented in a very boring way but adequate I suppose to get the work done.

Great preparation for the exam, when supplemented with good teaching! Not really aimed at young children, who might find the exercises boring and the language a bit serious, but gets the point across.

I always use ABRSM material for my pupils for obvious reasons, but, I feel that the workbooks could do with more exercises.

Very useful, very clear. My daughters are working through the series (in group theory classes) ready to take the Grade 5 theory, when appropriate.

A comprehensive workbook for grade 3 theory but a little dry for young children

A well laid out and well structured book which should be used in conjunction with the AB Guide to Music Theory part 1. References to the Guide are given in the book.
