I think that the pieces are a lovely selection that would appeal to a wide range of ages. There is a suitable range of techniques demanded and the pieces are suitably annotated with fingering and performance directions.
I like the notes giving the context for the piece. It might be good to include a list of other works by the same composer at a similar level to encourage players and teachers to explore a wider repertoire.

      Musicroom Reviews

A good variety of music in this ABRSM Grade 5 collection. I am playing Handel's "Allemande In A Minor" (which is a bit fiddly, being a baroque period piece, but excellent nevertheless), MacDowell's "To A Wild Rose" (which is a lovely romantic period piece and is recommended), and Brubeck's "For Lydia" (which has a great jazz sound). Some of the other pieces are a bit strange in the B/C Lists, though.

Lots of variety here and imaginative choices at all three levels. Two of the pieces are,in my view, really quite technically difficult for this grade. None of my students at this level have been entirely happy with Group C and we have had to look at the alternatives. It would be good if ABRSM published the alternatives as a separate booklet or made them available online to cut down the expense of buying compilation albums.
