The music was simplified to the extent that I, as a beginner could have a fair chance of playing it with some practice. The selection of Swing arrangements was good. It might be better if the CD included the solo trumpet part as well as, or instead of the full instrumental recording. The backing tracks would always be required. As a beginner I needed to ask friends about some of the marks on some notes e.g. the bar over a note. I did already recognise staccato. I consider this book a good buy.

My trumpet has been gathering dust for I don't know how many years, but "Swing Playalong for Trumpet" has given me that feeling I used to have, when I felt I was making a good sound! Ain't Nobody Here But Us Chickens, Getting Sentimental Over You and Is You Is Or Is You Ain't My Baby are just three of the great titles. Having picked up this book for the first time, I played it from beginning to end without stopping. I've not had so much fun for ages. I've not practiced as much in recent years either! If you haven't got this - get it!
