Very catching tunes. The children love the book!
Too focused on intervals rather than reading the notes.

This is an extremely well-written, well-paced, nicely presented tutor book. Every single one of my students love learning these tunes. I use it in conjunction with the Piano Solos 2 book and the accompanying CD which provides inspiring orchestrated backing tracks to play along to. This whole series (books 1-5) is fantastic, and I can highly recommend it. Excellent teaching material.

I find this a brilliant book for young learners. It is useful if the player is already used to playing in different positions. It encouages regonising a note by the others around it rather than its position on the stave. The first part of the book is mostly hands separately (tune moving between right and left hand throughout the piece). The pieces are all fun and the accompaniments imaginitive and great for adding character to the pieces.

As a piano teacher I have recently transferred all my pupils over to this teaching series. The colourful pages attract young pupils and the pieces are laid out clearly. New information is taught in a systematic way and is accompanied by improvisation exercises and introduction of scales. I highly recommend using this in association with the accompanying music theory book- the pupils enjoy the workbooks and gain a much more rounded theory knowledge.
