      Musicroom Reviews

This is a very fine collection of 5 new settings of the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis , all with organ accompaniment, which really bring something new to evensong. There is a range of difficulty here so this volume is accessible to most choirs who sing evensong on a regular basis. The book is nicely produced and the layout is very readable. Also the volume itself is not too thick or heavy so it fits nicely into choir folders and on the choir benches. Definitely worth investigating for any choir that sings evensong regularly and is looking for fresh repertoire. This book also seems to be part of a series of new Canticles - a 2nd volume is also available from the same publisher which features 6 a capella settings.
