Haydn’s Concertante was first performed in 1792. Due to its tremendous success it was performed again a few days later and has remained popular ever since.
The present performing edition based on the Haydn Complete Edition issued by G. Henle uses Haydn’s autograph as the main source, not the first edition from 1796 with all its unfounded alterations. Musicians for the first time have the opportunity to perform Haydn’s work true to his intentions.
