The easy to use unit comes with some nice software such as the Novation Bass Station, loops from Loopmasters and for those who need a DAW to get going in Alberton lite.
Being a G5 OSX 10.5.8 ppc user I checked Musicrooms web info on product, couldn't see much & went to Focusrite website to check it would work with my beloved old G5! Focusrite have a simple page which shows what product works with what system & mine was listed as compatible. But when box arrived saw system requirements were OSX 10.6 & higher! Saw review with same system as mine all working fine! So took the plunge, I connected the Saffire to firewire card; Sonnet Firewire 400 from Allegro, the sound was distorted; obviously digital noise. To cut a long story short (ish) I called Tom on helpline @ Focusrite, took their advice on a new firewire card (I had narrowed it down to Firewire) in this case a SIIG Firewire 3 port card, and hey presto everything works as it should & it's great!
Preamps nice, plenty of in & outs, midi ok, all quality stuff, Saffire Mixcontrol is great once you've spent time getting to know it and the inbuilt compressor & EQ & Reverb are of the quality you expect from Focusrite. I've yet to really try out the VRM headphone system but I'm sure it can be of some use as a reference tool. Headphone output volume is adequate.
For the price this little box delivers a pro quality sound.
I'm using logic 8, Reason 4, T-Racks, M-Audio keyboards, Triton, acoustic guitars/electric guitars & bass, straight in or through Line6 POD, & Vocals.
