The Odyssey Debut range of instruments has been designed with recognition of the significant contribution that an instrument makes to the willingness of a student to persevere, practice, progress and pursue the process of learning to control and master the instrument, get the best from it, and thus enjoy making music.

The Odyssey Debut range, although very well established in its own right, has undergone Master Craftsman Peter Pollard's scrutiny and has been re-designed and specified to Peter's exacting standards, ensuring that the instruments look, feel, perform, sound and play way out of their price class.

"These entry level Odyssey Debut instruments play well, are terrific value for money and ideal for the first time player."

The sound of this instrument is much the same as any other clarinet when using the same mouthpiece. It sounds great, all the keys seal seal well and operate smoothly.

Don't be put off by the low price.
No matter what clarinet you buy you need a mouthpiece that suits you. I tried a few out and found one that suited me better than the one that comes with it, the score of 8 reflects the original one, it is now a 10.

If you are really fussy about finish (you want really smooth edges everywhere) then look for one at least 5 times the price.

A really great clarinet outfit. The sound quality and build of the clarinet is good, the keys all operate smoothly, the ABS body is well made and has a good wood grain effect finish just like the more expensive clarinets. It comes with a top quality Vandoren reed - the nice soft 1 1/2 grade reed is good for starters. The case is built to a price but it has strong hinges and clips and feels secure when closed up. It also includes cork grease, a good pull through cloth for drying, and two barrels (to also cater for those playing in an orchestra). Why pay more?
