Repertoire Classics - Flute

Books and Digital Audio | Flute, Piano Accompaniment

Publisher: Carl Fischer
Format: Sheet Music | Instrumental Album

Repertoire Classics for Flute is a comprehensive and progressively graded collection of 36 classic solos for Flute with Piano accompaniment.

The book contains a fine mix of transcriptions of familiar classics along with solos written specifically for the Flute. The collection is graded in difficulty from moderate to advanced and is ideal material for concerts and recitals. There is a wide variety of music from all style periods and by some of the greatest composers of all time.

As an added bonus, included is an online audio download that contains MP3 audio files of the Piano accompaniments to make practicing more fun. The online downloads also include all of the Piano accompaniment parts for all the pieces in the collection as printable PDF files. This way you can print out only the piece you are currently playing, reducing the bulk of printed material you have to carry around. This feature also allows this large and useful collection to be presented at a very attractive price.

It was good to be able to print out the accompaniment for the piece I am working on. I look forward to practising with the CD when I get it up to speed. Very good system!
          I don't think so.

Having the pieces to listen to on the CD is very useful, and with the piano parts there too it is a very handy purchase.
Some of the arrangements are not as well edited as other editions - particularly Faure's Sicilienne. Not having a hard copy of the piano parts can backfire if you have forgotten to print off what you need!

A really good selection of pieces for intermediate flautists - several appear in ABRSM/TG grade 4, 5 or 6 syllabi. Warning: Some editions vary from those specified in the exam syllabus - such as Sicilienne (Faure), so expect a few variations. Biggest warning of all: This book contains exactly the same pieces as the 36 Repertoire Pieces for flute. The only difference is that this book has the CD for printing out the piano parts, which makes a lot of sense and makes this more affordable - always popular with parents and pupils!

A great selection of music, in varying levels - although the Grades described on the PDF don't seem to match up to UK standards - i.e. pieces listed as G2 level, are much harder. I've so far played around 1/3 of the pieces, which I've really enjoyed. The backing CD is very good, and a great help. The pieces are not in the same order on the CD as they are in the book, which was very confusing at first!

A great book with excellent accompaniment. Good fun playing along with the backing track CD!!

Fantastic value. Although I have most of these pieces already it is worth it just for the accompanying CD. The Cd contains pdf files of the piano parts as well as mp3 files. the pieces range in difficulty from Grade 4 - 7 and some are or have been on the exam syllabuses (syllabi?)

I like the idea of backing tracks, making it more enjoyable to practice the pieces. But track 16 (Faure's Sicilienne) did not have the usual 2-bar introduction - making it impossible to use (without software modification). So, I suggest next time the CD is produced someone should check each track for an introduction. It would be great to have performance tracks added to the CD for each piece, as a guide to what the flute part should sound like.
