These practice tests provide a perfect opportunity for those feeling uncertain or nervous about the aural element of their ABRSM practical exam to practise the required skills as many times as they like.

The CD includes six complete examination-style practice tests designed to support the revised ABRSM aural tests effective from January 2011.

The tests are presented by Laurence Perkins, well-known in the UK and internationally as a solo bassoonist and orchestral player. He has been the series producer of these aural test recordings since the first classic recordings in 1982 with the late Ida Carroll, a leading authority on aural training at the time.

      Musicroom Reviews

My son had never really "got" the aural tests until now. But as he is about to take Grade 5 viola this summer, we thought we would get this CD. It's been great, I warmly recommend this CD to anyone who is anxious about aural tests. It has really boosted his confidence, which is more than half the battle in any music examination. He now understands much better what is required of him and he has also discovered that he wasn't as bad as he thought he was, just hadn't really understood it before! This CD was sufficient to prepare him. The alternative, official ABRSM book with CD is also very good, but more formal in tone, we found it suited him less, it was more preachy & technical. If you need a confidence boost, buy this CD. If you know what you are doing and want to perfect it, maybe the official book will suit you better.
