Clear Light, Magic Body is a work for solo Guitar in four movements inspired by a Tibetan Buddhist icon, symbolising the Buddha as father-mother, or the union of wisdom (female) and compassion (male). Thisunion is explored in two fast-paced outer movements. The second movement, Clear Light, represents the female aspect, wisdom, and the male aspect, compassion, is expressed in the third movement, Magic Body. It waspremiered in January 1994 by Jonathan Leathwood, as part of the Park Lane Group concert series at the Purcell Room.
The composer Param Vir (b. 1952) was born in India. He is one of the most important andoriginalcontemporary composers working in Britain today.
