Description
This major work is a seven-movement setting of Psalm 100, predominantly in Latin. Inserted within the work are interjections of the text "Shout to the Lord, all ye lands!" in eight different languages.
The work may be performed entirely by an SATB choir, or some or all of the treble choir options in the treble part may be used along with the SATB choir. Part-dominant rehearsal videos and pronunciation guides for the languages are available for free on the composer's website. There are three different orchestrations of the work available, ranging from a large orchestration to a nine-instrument chamber version.
This piece was commissioned by the Indianapolis Children's Chorus to honor its distinguished conductor of 30 years, Henry Leck. Seen by the composer as a partner composition to his Requiem for the Living, Forrest's Jubilate Deo is a great addition to the repertoire. Highly recommended!
