Discover the music of the 20th Century American composer, conductor, teacher and writer Aaron Copland
Aaron Copland is one the 20th Century’s leading figures in composition. His music is known for evoking the landscape of his native America and the spirit of its people. Aaron Copeland’s modern musical characterisation of America’s culture and history is stylistically varied. His jazz influence is shown in pieces such as Four Piano Blues and the Benny Goodman commission - Concerto for clarinet, strings and harp. Pieces such as Appalachian Spring show elements of American folk music and at Musicroom you’ll also find an SATB transcription of his original arrangements of Old American Songs. Danzón Cubano and El Salon Mexico show his interest in latin music too. Classically, among other composers, Copland was influenced by the neoclassicism of Igor Stravinsky in Piano Variations and Short Symphony and by the Serial techniques of Schöenberg in Piano Fantasy. Musicroom offer thousands more titles from all the top publishers and composers in their catalogue of classical sheet music, modern classical music and jazz & blues sheet music to browse at your leisure.
