The pieces in this collection portray the places, people and indeed cuisine of the Loire Valley. Titles include Jules Verne, Le Champignon de Paris and Le Puy du Fou, directed at players of Grade 3 to 5 ability. A wide range of technique is featured, including simple multiphonics, for which fingerings are suggested in a chart at the beginning of the book. Slap and flutter tonguing are used in some of the pieces.
The keys of the pieces do not exceed three sharps or flats, and it is suggested that the pieces might be used for examinations or auditions. It is unlikely that these pieces will find their way into UK music examination syllabuses, but they would be useful for an intermediate standard student as sight-reading material.
Bon appétit!
