Mendelssohn’s Cello Sonata No.2 in D Major (Op. 58) was composed in 1843 for Cello and Piano. It is heavily influenced by Bach, borrowing elements of both structure and melody from some of Bach’s works. This Urtext edition is published by Henle Verlag.
Dvorak wrote to his Berlin publisher in 1889 informing them of the composition of the Poetic Tone Pictures (Op. 85) and adding "You will like the compositions. Each piece has a title and is meant to describe something."
