Customer Rating This item took a long time to arrive, although this is highlighted on the website. It is the oboe version of the Standard of Excellence series which I use for group teaching mixed woodwind. It has a number of preliminary pages of tunes using the notes which would be more traditionally used by beginner oboe, otherwise it follows the same route as all the others in the series, with the first notes being Bflat, C, D, Eflat & F and then expanding from there. It works with the others in the group, so is useful from that point of view.
For anyone who is not an oboe specialist, however, you should be aware that the fingerings are based on the 'conservatoire' oboe, rather than the 'thumbplate' system more commonly used in schools in UK, it is necessary to go through the book and alter the fingering diagrams.
