This is a short simple work (approximately 40 minutes) intended as either part of an act of worship or a segment in a concert.
Here is the biblical story of Ruth applied to the modern world. The result is a lively and fast-moving musical which uses satire, softened by humour, to show the inadequacy of racism and sexism, but always emphasising the romance of the story.
There are four principal parts (Ruth, Naomi, Boaz and the Narrator) with a chorus for unison voices. The composer has included an optional mixed voices harmony version for the chorus which may be taken by the parish choir!
