Description

Shaped by the tastes of the Parisian aristocratic salon, the Preludes of Chopin have long been a staple part of every Piano student's repertoire. The pieces hare brimming with innovation and invention, and will help to develop a fluid and elegant melodic style, as well as being recognised concert favourites. They present the Pianist with technical challenges that will inform and inspire your playing.

The Schirmer Performance Editions not only offer authoritative presentations of great music, they are also packed with interpretative suggestions, permanent fingering as well as an insightful historical and artistic commentary. An innovative tutorial series that provokes discussion as well as music.

Customer Reviews

Rating Review
Customer Rating The pieces are quite advanced if one wants to play them correctly... The biggest problems would be the speed as quite a lot of them are Vivace or Presto or at least 100 bpm. A good example of the high skill level needed would be the Prelude in F-sharp Minor Op.28 No.8. The less difficult pieces would be the Prelude in E Minor Op 28 No4, Prelude in B Minor Op 28 No 6, Prelude in A Major Op 28 No 7 and the Prelude in C Minor Op 28 No 20. All of which would be no higher than Grade 6. Overall a MUST have for any Chopin lover!
