Musicroom Reviews

Rating Review
Customer Rating A good selection of earlier works, well presented and very clear text. Certain things lacking though : Nearly everything left to the performer to interpret, including ornament execution and most notably fingering (absent), although this is not essentially a bad thing overall. A good volume for amateur study that will enhance a players technique. Many works in this volume are quite difficult, and some that were probably written for the double manual harpsichord are very awkward in places on a single keyboard. Worth the effort though as these pieces represent the non plus ultra of binary keyboard composition.

Customer Rating A great selection of Scarlatti's sonatas with a long and interesting introduction by Kirkpatrick who knows what he's talking about when it comes to Scarlatti sonatas.

Customer Rating This volume contains well laid out and nicely written sonatas, the music itself is beautiful, however as in most Schirmer editions for keyboard music there is limited, if any fingering written in.
