Musicroom Reviews

Rating Review
Customer Rating This combines some of the best features of previous Guest Spot titles, and then adds a new dimension. Like the other titles, the backing tracks are rich and elegantly performed. The solos provided are professional and interesting, but the title goes one step further offering the soloist the opportunity to improvise with a solo chorus - only the chord changes are shown. A very cool approach with relatively easy chord changes.

Customer Rating Any saxophonist wanting more of a challenge should definately order this book! The book offers the soloist an opportunity to improvise over written chord sequences, which I haven't come across in any similar books before. The tunes are well-known, and written well for Alto Saxophone. Definately one of the best books I've ordered!

Customer Rating One of the better books in the Guestspot range. I found it a real treat to be able to play reading the dots and then given a little freedom to improvise. I would thoroughly recommend this book if you are looking for something that is going to take you away from the norm and want to play something that's going to introduce you to jazz improvisation.

Customer Rating Excellent backing tracks, useful transcribed solos to play along with, good choice of tunes (though shame Favourite Things is in such a horrible key) - excellent for more advanced players.

Customer Rating A really good book for any jazz-loving saxophonist. Some of the songs are quite difficult (I am Grade 5) but not impossible with practice. Many of the written solos are original and well-written. Recommended to everyone!!
