I like this John Rutter piece- partly because it can be sung in unison, but mainly because the verses are unison and the chorus in harmony - I am merely using SA as we are a small ladies scratch choir. Although the tune modulates the melody and harmony remain the same, making it easy to learn. The whole piece is joyful, catchy, easy to listen to. The ladies loved it IMMEDIATELY.
The accompaniment is very difficult and needs an accomplished accompanist - it modulates to five sharps!
A superb piece of music - typical of all John Rutter who, in my opinion cannot "put a note wrong".
I think the accompaniment, the melody and the harmony come together in a really joyful piece.

Very good anthem for harvest time. Tuneful and easy for a small church choir. Hymn like refrain sung in harmony which is sung in different keys for variety. Not too many high notes, therefore well within the choirs range. Not too long. Should fit in well with harvest sermon. Very pianistic accompaniment. Played on organ, but sounds nicer on the piano.
A little repetitive, but this makes it easier to learn. No real bad points.

Musicroom Reviews

Rating Review
Customer Rating A brilliant anthem for the amateur choir that is light enough for the children and will hold their attention but is also just the right complexity for the small adult base within the choir.

Customer Rating Super anthem- lovely to sing.

Customer Rating Haven't actually started to rehearse this yet but I know the choir will love it. It looks easy to learn and is of the usual Rutter quality and brightness.

Customer Rating We have only just started on this piece and all the choir agreed it was very enjoyable.

Customer Rating 5 stars. A lovely anthem.

Customer Rating This piece has a beautiful melody and is one of Rutter's more accessible pieces. It is advertised as SATB or unison because of the type of accompaniment and my ladies' choir sing just the sop and alto parts, which works very well. We divide up the short solo sections between sops and altos. The words make the piece suitable for Harvest but it is also suitable for all the year round. We are singing it in February. I highly recommend this.

Customer Rating Although primarily aimed at children this is a lovely mixed voice choir piece and quickly became a favourite of the three choirs I have been involved with. Usual A1 service from Musicroom 0 ordered one day, here in the post next day.

Customer Rating This is one of Rutter's very simple and singable tunes that wanders through a number of keys. It is ideal for children to learn, but a bit uninteresting for the SATB choir I work with.
