Have used Jazz rags and blues for years and love it- the kids love the catchy tunes, they sound much harder than they actually are- I use it alongside tuition books to give pupils something a bit lighter and more lively it keeps them interested

Musicroom Reviews

Rating Review
Customer Rating great mix of boogie-type tunes - perfect for someone who has not played this type of music before (I am an adult learner - about Grade 2) - makes a nice change from classical.

Customer Rating These books are a new discovery for me and I like them very much - Mier has a knack of writing music that is easy to play but sounds impressive and authentic. The print is very easy to read, and my pupils are enthusiastic about learning each new piece. The rags in particular are very nicely written.

Customer Rating Another excellent book from Martha Mier, for Uk Grade 2-3 pupils, to introduce non-classical style. I enjoyed playing Wild Honeysuckle Rag. Like the Book 1, the printing is large, clear, and easy-to-read, and the sounds are authentic.

Customer Rating Great fun to play between exams, and for those pupils who want to progress without the stress of exams. The standard is approximately the same as the book number, i.e, book 2 is about Grade 2+. The pieces vary in character, too, so plenty of performance skills to work on.

Customer Rating Martha Mier never disappoints. I don't think there is a dud piece in the book. They are all really good enjoyable pieces, that any Grade 2-ish student would appreciate.

Customer Rating What a gem! Love these books, great selection of pieces. I particularly like the Jazz Waltz (Red Rose Rendezvous). They are ideal to pick up in between exams for a bit of light relief.
