Piano Time is a hugely successful series for all young beginners, from the very first lesson up to around grade 3. With a complete range of carefully paced and attractive books - tutors, books of pieces of all kinds, duets, and technique books - Piano Time is a highly enjoyable way to learn the piano.

Piano Time 2 builds on the techniques acquired in Piano Time 1, extending the range of notes and time signatures and including tones and semitones, chords and triads, arpeggios, major and minor scales, and keep-fit exercises for the left hand. It also introduces simple pedalling, new signs and symbols, and pieces to help players get around the whole keyboard. With a host of attractive pieces in all styles, a gradual pace to suit all players, and many wonderful illustrations in full colour, this is a superb tutor book for all young musicians.

Manchester GB Experienced piano teacher.
I've been using Piano Times 1 and 2 for quite a few years and find them suitable for most young pupils. I feel that they provide a solid, structured method and the pieces are enjoyable. I supplement them with technical work (such as the Dozen a Day series) and, of course, with theory.
The Piano Time Pieces books are also useful and include some very good pieces.
Both Piano Time 1 and 2 move quite quickly and so will not suit all pupils. It is often a good idea to introduce work from other books that will consolidate ideas from the Piano Time books.

Musicroom Reviews

Rating Review
Customer Rating Great fun book with colourful pictures. Lovely pieces both modern and well-known, with some pieces adapted by famous composers. Ideal for grade 2 standard.

Customer Rating I am learning to play, and find these books far less patronising than the adult versions, overall very good and very easy to use!

Customer Rating Great tutor book for my younger pupils. The learning experiences move at a logical pace through the book. I would recommend this to any teacher.

Customer Rating This is a good book to work through as the first book doesn't quite get the student up to Grade 1 standard even though the last piece is quite hard. This book goes down a gear and starts with an easy one and then carries on with all the theory needed for Grade 1 and also scales in two octaves. Minor keys are also covered towards the end and I think any student attempting Grade 1 after finishing this book would be very well prepared.

Customer Rating This attractive book entices learners of all ages with the use of both well known pieces and colourful illustrations. It follows smoothly from Book 1 in preparation for entering exam grades if desired.

Customer Rating I have used this series now for five years and still find it appealing to teach from. I have swapped onto other series to give them a try, but always come back to piano time. Great new beginners at the upper primary age and older.

Customer Rating Solid technique. Another good tutor book.

Customer Rating Bought this book to compare with Piano Adventures and whilst I'm happy with layout etc, I've decided to use Piano Adventures on this occasion, but wouldn't not use this in future for other pupils.

Customer Rating I received the music books in perfect condition and am very happy with the service.
