This work was written almost exactly fifteen years after Schubert's previous offering in this genre, a Piano Trio also in B Flat Major (D.28), composed when a pupil of Antonio Salieri. This work, Op.99 (D.898), sees Schubert near the end of his career and life now fully aware of his powers' scope.

Sutton Coldfield GB Good amateur pianist
It's one of my favourite pieces of music. Never played it before. It's hard, but very satisfying
It's not the most reliable edition. If we were aiming to play it in public, I'd have to go to an urtext edition, but that was a lot more expensive.
