Description

Whistles go all around the world! Every country on the planet has some kind of whistle or flute in its traditional music legacy. This unique book gathers together 50 whistle melodies and explores a rich variety of international playing styles and techniques. From Bosnia to Brittany and from Turkey to Thailand, here are some of the world's greatest tunes for whistles, flutes and pipes.

All tunes are arranged for pennywhistle in D, and are playable on any other similar whistle or concert flute. Also included are chord symbols for piano or guitar and informative notes about the music and local genres.

Customer Reviews

Rating Review
Customer Rating Most of these tunes are fairly short and deceptively simple but there is a wide variety of ethnic music and the CD gives ideas for ornamentation if you listen carefully. The author has an approachable writing style and it is worth checking out his other books such as St Patrick Was A Cajun, which contain fairly challenging arrangements of his own tunes.
Anon.

Customer Rating a very good book to give you an intro and feeling of music around the world and for your first steps into world music.

Customer Rating this book was clearly not grade 3-6 as it was listed its barely grade 1
