This little cantata was commissioned by Carl Dolmetsch and first performed by Elizabeth Harwood (soprano), Jeanne Dolmetsch (sopranino recorder), Marguerite Dolmetsch (viola da gamba) and Joseph Saxby (harpsichord) at the Wigmore Hall on 22 March 1979.
