Rating Review
Customer Rating No doubting the content and value. Instrumental tracks require plenty of step by step instruction.
And no doubting Any James' technical ability (oh my god!).

BUT, already there have been a few annoying point compared to other LL contributors. There are quite a few "lets see what that sounds like put together...slowly" that isn't nearly slow enough to help work out the timing, but actually since there some irregular/complex timings on the original Satriani tracks. You have to skip to the full performance to nail the timing.

I don't mean he plays his "slow" versions too fast for novices, its just too fast due to the skipping over very briefly of the individual parts.

I've gone in depth through Always with me... and in the "fast legato section" which descends as part of Solo 2, the individual parts played are missing a small pattern that is present when he plays the run through in full. This section has very complex timings. You just need to try and work it out from the Performance rather than the instruction, but this proves impossible since there are 4 or 5 notes played in the solo that aren't shown at all when it is broken down.

Finally, compared to other "learn to play" DVDs, particualarly by Danny Gill, this one has NO reference to the key of the song, the scale being used. e.g. he never says we use this pattern as it is part of the xxxxx scale which sits over the x x x x chord progression. It really is just put your fingers here and you will sound like Satriani. Bit lazy.
