Written originally by the legendary Jester Hairston in 1956, Mary’s Boy Child has become a classic in the Christmas caroller’s repertoire. Uncountable cover versions in both English and other languages include recordings by Nat King Cole, Boney M, Tom Jones, and most recently Glee. This arrangement by Gordon Langford for Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Baritone I, Baritone II and Bass is based on the version recorded for the 1980 album Christmas with the King’s Singers. The mellow and festive sound of the intertwining of the six Voices is bound to make any Christmas performance memorable.

The King’s Singers is a Grammy Award-winning British male sextet founded in 1968 at King’s College, Cambridge. The group has always consisted of six singers in total, with their membership constantly changing. Over the decades the ensemble has reached an ever-widening international audience and popularity, today appearing in around 125 concerts each year mostly in Europe, the US and the Far East.
