Over the past few years, Patrick Hawes has emerged as one of the most popular contemporary English composers. Within weeks of its release in 2004, his debut album Blue In Blue stormed the classical charts and was made CD of the week on Classic FM. Subsequently, it was voted the fastest and highest new entry into the Hall of Fame by the Classic FM audience. As Classic FM’s composer in residence for 2006/7, he was commissioned to write the twelve Towards The Light piano pieces that appear in this collection.

Scottish Highlands GB singer, pianist.
easily sightread; lyrical and poignant music.
slightly repetitive in part but understandable given the title.

Bought for my daughter who is working towards grade 7. A lovely selection of pieces. Came across this compser following a special arrangement of Song of Songs sung by her school choir. Beautiful.

Rating Review
Customer Rating I bought this music book as I really liked the piece "Stargazer". This piece is the most technically difficult with 5 sharps, but all the other pieces in the book are far simpler to play - mostly in the treble clef too - which makes it easier. The whole book is very relaxing and peaceful - very rewarding playing it as you can create quite a lot of feeling.

Customer Rating Really nice, accessible piano music.

Customer Rating I listened to classic fm before my wedding and stumbled across Patrick hawes. I love it! My favourites are towards the light and pavane. Needless tO say it was played at my wedding. Lovely! Also excellent delivery, was here next day!!!

Customer Rating I really like this book and it is good value as there are so many pieces in it. At first glance, it looks quite easy, but there are many tricky parts and complicated timings that make it very interesting to play. I like to use it for advanced sight-reading practice too. I shall keep a look out for more Patrick Hawes music for solo piano. Highly recommended!

Customer Rating What a lovely book of piano music. Nice to think that someone is still writing decent music that is tuneful
