For this recording, Big Voice is surrounded, supported and urged on by Jimmy Dawkin's band. He is a heart gripping, dramatic guitarist and the wonderful lyrical second guitarist, Jimmy Johnson, accompanies most of the tunes on this fine live album.
Recorded live at Ma Bea's, 3001 West Madison, October 28th 1976. The last two tracks are previously unissued! Blues fans may already feel they know Andrew Big Voice Odom from the records he cut with Black & Blue and Delmark, or through his European tour with The Chicago Blues Festival in 1974. However, to really get to know him, you'd have had to have heard him at the various ghetto clubs in Chicago, the Checkerboard, Pepper's, the South Louise Lounge or, as is the case here, at Ma Bea's, where he spent most of his evenings.
