Description

Charles (Carl) Oberthur (1819-1895) was one pg the best-known of nineteenth-century harpists and a prolific composer for his instrument. His works include operas, orchestral and choral works and more than three hundred opus numbers for harp, occasionally with other instruments.

Le Desir is one of a set of six nocturnes written to celebrate the second marriage of Adolf, Duke of Massau - still apparently Oberthur's employed in Wiesbaden - in April 1851. This expressive and lyrical Nocturne is written for Clarinet and Piano (or Harp) and has been edited by Oliver Davies.

Customer Rating This is a beautiful piece of music, very tuneful, with lots of scope for expression. I think it will be a definite choice for my grade 7.
