Description

The Buddy Rich Memorial Scholarship Concert, produced by Buddy’s daughter Cathy and Avedis Zildjian Co., was organized to provide a scholarship for a young drummer in Buddy Rich’s name. The concert was taped live by DCI Music Video on October 14, 1989 at the Wiltern Theatre, Los Angeles, California under the direction of Bill Graham Presents. Six of the world’s greatest drummers participated in this historic occasion, each one playing with a reunited 15-piece Buddy Rich Band. This concert includes classic performances and solos by Vinnie Colaiuta, Steve Gadd, Dave Weckl with the Buddy Rich Band, Cathy Rich singing a number with the band and an incredible drum trio consisting of Colaiuta, Weckl, and Gadd This tape also includes film clips of Buddy Rich.
