Leighton Buzzard GB Experienced Piano Teacher
This book allows students to become accustomed to changing their hand position whilst playing a piece of music in a progressive way. Some of the pieces only have the right hand changing position, whilst the left hand remains in the same place.
It would be good to see a newer version of the book progress in a similar way with more modern and up to date tunes. Currently the other versions progress too quickly.

Musicroom Reviews

Rating Review
Customer Rating This is an excellent introductory book for the complete beginner and, although aimed primarily at young children, older students eager to learn the rudiments of piano playing will also benefit from looking at this book

Unlike some other books for beginners, which in some cases proceed too rapidly, the pace of instruction is slow. Indeed, all the pieces are in middle C position and by the end of the book a student will have learned nine notes and played over forty little pieces. These include 'Mary had a little Lamb' and 'London Bridge is Falling Down.'

Moreover, there are several imaginative theory exercises designed to catch a child's attention, and the book's final strength is the fact that it contains lovely life-like black and white illustrations that can be coloured in for extra creativity. As a piano teacher, I find that the majority of my young pupils prefer realistic illustrations to the monsters and gremlins etc that appear in more recent publications.

Customer Rating This book has popular tunes that are very enjoyable to play and suit Grade One for the piano. The tunes are more suitable for adults but the children seem to like them too.
